Has anyone noticed the design similarities between the MS Office Logo and Apple’s Command Key? I thought it was kind of interesting. Maybe it’s a conspiracy…oooh…
Today is Earth Day and seems like the trend of becoming greener and greener will become more and more popular. People are becoming more environmentally conscious or maybe is just all a conspiracy, I love conspiracies. Companies of all sizes boast about how their businesses are environmentally friendly, from Chipotle’s restaurants decorated with recycled materials from construction zones to recycled paper products almost everywhere.
However there seems to be one company who doesn’t seem to care much about the eco-friendly movement, have you ever stopped and noticed the Sherwin-Williams Logo? It features a can of paint about the size of the moon pouring red paint all over the planet, notice how the planet is on its side too, what is that supposed to mean? and the slogan “Cover The Earth”. Yea, I know…their intentions its not what I’m thinking but I think it was quite ironic in these “green” days that such a large company sticks to their not-so-eco-friendly-lets-destroy-the-earth-and-paint-everything-red logo.
I also found it really interesting that they talk about their logo on the green page in their website, maybe I haven’t been the only one noticing this. I love what it says though:
“…the logo’s purpose was to represent the company’s desire to help beautify and protect the buildings of the world. It was a symbol of a young company’s enthusiasm, idealism and hope…”
Come on! Give me a break…that’s the last thing I think of when I see that logo, can someone help me actually see that in the logo? and what are you trying to say by that anyway? that we should all be painted red in order to be beautiful and protect our buildings? Geniuses.
