United: The Concert

May 30, 2007

Yesterday we went to the United concert. I guess there is no need to mention that it was really, really good. It was a good time of worship and we also had fun, for the first time I felt old when all I could see around me were teenagers but that was no biggie. There is not much to say other than we jumped like crazy and sang out loud. On our way out all the kids were waiting for the band at the table to get their autographs, we kept walking and as we passed by the lockers they came out in that moment and I was able to shake their hands, it was pretty cool. I was able to take a few good pictures but I’m going to post the one and only video I shot that night. Hope you like it. The sound is not really that good and you can hear my horrible singing most of the times. By the way we had great seats, we were like eight rows away from the stage.

Hammer, Drill and Blood: The Once in A Lifetime Ordeal of Wisdom Teeth Extraction

May 30, 2007

After an awesome night at the United concert this morning I had to face my fate of getting my wisdom teeth extracted. Due to several reasons I had to do local anesthesia instead of being sedated, and I have to admit I was a little bit nervous thanks to family and friends who did a great job in discouraging the idea. However I have to say I felt nothing at all, no pain, just the pressure of their hands and tools working in my mouth and the fact that I was awake while they cut, drill, hammer and pulled teeth, of course, we can’t ignore the special effects of blood all over the place. It was a good idea to bring my mp3 player and listen to music while they did whatever they do. I was pretty much in my own happy little place. I’m happy to have a Blog because I can only manage to say “Yes” or “No” right now, the anesthesia is starting to wear off and I already swallowed a 600mg of Ibuprofen. Let’s see how the pain goes.

And The Twins Win…!

May 28, 2007

Today we went to the Twins game against the White Sox, the Twins totally rocked the house, it was an exciting game; Minnesota beat Chicago 10-4. My man Santana pitched really good as usual, although he gave away two or three home runs. The whole place was going nuts people screaming all the time, definitely not a boring game. Our seats were good to watch the game, we could see the whole field from where we were but it wasn’t close enough for my camera. I was able to take this picture of Johan when he was warming up.

On a different note, this memorial weekend was pretty good, it was nice to have an extra day. We have a busy week ahead of us though. Tomorrow Tuesday we are going to the United concert and on Wednesday I’m getting my wisdom teeth out (ouch!) which will put me out for the next two days. Let’s see how it goes.

The People vs. Big Corp

May 25, 2007

When I read this kind of article only one thing crosses my mind: When are we going to make Big Corp wear a sign that says “I am a thief, I stole from people”?

"Love One Another"

May 23, 2007

I took this picture today on my way to work. It reminded me of Pastor Rob’s series Bumper Stickers. Although the sticker’s message was a good message that was not what impacted me the most, instead it was the size and effort put into it, the emphasis. To put a bumper sticker (is that still a bumper sticker?) that size all across your SUV means that you are serious about it or you’re a little bit crazy. Anyway I thought it was really interesting and I took a picture of it, I couldn’t take a better picture because we were going different ways, but you can still see what I mean (if you click on the picture it will get a little bit bigger).

I have to confess, at some point I was tempted to cut in front of him/her or do some other traffic stupidity to see how much love he/she had :-)

Top 25 Web Hoaxes

May 21, 2007

“I usually don’t forward emails but…” I’m pretty sure you have read that line before. How many times have you received emails that are obviously not real but still that friend of yours forwarded it to everybody? Sometimes I wonder if they were fooled by it or the email was so funny that they forwarded to all of us so we can laugh. Either way, it’s not fun to receive forwards. So, before forwarding one of those “this one is for real!” emails make sure you read this article. It lists the top 25 web hoaxes of all time (since the internet was born of course) I think I have seen most of them, except for the one about microsoft and the catholic church and the one about microsoft and firefox. I have to say though that #14, the one about Cellphone GPS Tracking is pretty good. Make sure to check it out, here is the link (This is not appropriate for the easily offended)

I’m Done!

May 15, 2007

Finally I’m done with school. Today I had my last final for this term…my f-i-r-s-t term!…I still have a lot to go!
It wasn’t really that hard. I mean academically it was ok, the hard part was fitting studies with all the other responsibilities and keeping a balance, on top of all that, is my first time back in school after 7 years or so. I don’t want to be like some people who do nothing else but study but I don’t want to not study and the fail my classes, what then would be the point? So, yea, it was very hard in that sense. I was thinking about taking summer classes but I won’t, I really want to enjoy the summer and play ball :-)
Hopefully next term I will be in better shape (academically) and it will go smoother. I enjoyed my classes. I like to learn, don’t know why, but I’ve always been attracted to knowledge. Does that make me a nerd? I guess that will a subject for a different post.
